Tisserand: Pioneering British Aromatherapy

Tisserand is one of the most famous names in the world of aromatherapy and essential oils and it all started in England.

Robert Tisserand, a ground-breaking aromatherapist, started blending his own essential oils in 1974.

His work has since grown into an internationally recognized brand, which is still headquartered in Britain.

Tisserand essential oils are pure, natural and ethical and Vegan Society approved.

Tisserand aromatherapy

Robert Tisserand is one of the world’s leading aromatherapy experts.

He runs the Tisserand Institute, which offers courses and research and is author of The Art of Aromatherapy (1977), and co-author of Essential Oil Safety (2014).

Pure essential oils and blended oils

It is upon his work that the Tisserand brand of essential oils is based. Today, Tisserand the brand offers pure essential oil favourites, such as lavender, tea tree, bergamot, eucalyptus and more.

There are also blends, like Tisserand Better Sleep, Tisserand Mind Clear and Tisserand Total De-Stress, which are tailored to help with certain problems, such as stress, bad sleep and tension.

Tisserand oils

Tisserand essential oils are pure, natural, vegan and versatile. All of them are made from organic and/or ethically sourced plants. Each scent has different properties, which can provide support for various problems.

For example, Tisserand Peppermint Oil is thought to be invigorating and cleansing: especially great in a bath or used around the home for a clean scent.

Another example is Tisserand Rosemary Oil, which can be used for creativity and to help support short term memory.

Meanwhile, Tisserand Mandarin Oil is promoted for its ability to support mood, help ease mental fatigue and increase creativity.

With an essential oil for almost every emotion and situation, it can not only be beneficial but fun to try a few and see how they affect you.

As each individual will have different associations and memories linked to smells, there will undoubtedly be smells that work better for you than others.

For example, if you have fond memories of walking through eucalyptus forests in Australia, or lavender fields in France, you may well find those scents flood you with happiness.

Tisserand diffuser oil

You can also add essential oils to water in a diffuser or oil burner to fill your home with glorious smells.

It is a great way of marking some me-time: change the smell of your house, pour a glass of your favourite drink and curl up with a good book.

Or, pop a cleansing scent into your diffuser as a way to refresh your home before you are expecting guests.

Natural essential oils are a much more natural and subtle way of making your home smell great than artificial room sprays and air fresheners.

Tisserand makes it even easier to use its products by offering its own diffuser and specialist blends, such as Tisserand High Energy Diffuser Oil, which has a range of specially chosen smells perfect for lifting your mood through the senses.

Tisserand rollerball and mist

Sometimes you just need a quick fix. A hit of a lovely scent that has positive associations.

This is where Tisserand rollerball products and Tisserand mists come in. Whether you want something to help with stress, energy or sleep, Tisserand will have something for you to try.

For example, Tisserand Find Focus Rollerball contains rosemary, grapefruit and orange for a perfect blend to help our brains focus in our busy modern world.

Aromatherapy has been used throughout the ages as a way to help soothe and ease aches and stresses.

It is a type of complementary therapy, which affects our olfactory system.

Our sense of smell has a strong effect on our emotions, memory and reactions to circumstances, including our survival instincts.

Humans would have once relied on smell to guide us to food, water, and warn us of dangers in our surroundings.

With all this potential held in our noses, it is no wonder that aromatherapists believe that strong smells, such as essential oils, could provide relief and support to our emotional wellbeing.

Before you dive into the world of aromatherapy, however, it is worth noting that some essential oils are strong, so we highly recommend to consult a doctor if you want to try using them for a pre-existing health condition.

There are a multitude of ways to use essential oils at home.

Not only can you make your own DIY products, such as adding essential oils to a natural body lotion, or diluting the essential oils into other neutral oils, like massage oil, but you can use essential oils as bath oil for a luxurious spa-like experience.

Tisserand also makes ready-made bath oils and body lotions, if doing it yourself sounds a bit too much like hard work!

For example, Tisserand Rose and Geranium Leaf Bath Soak, or Tisserand Neroli & Sandalwood Body Lotion both bring together popular scent combinations with high-quality oils and moisturisers to make aromatherapy at home as easy as possible.
